Back From Vacation

I'm back in California now. It was a very lovely vacation and I had the most delightful time catching up with everyone. But it is also completely wonderful coming back to an apartment full of clean dishes and laundry. Hubby-kun stayed up late the night before my arrival to tidy up. (I know, I know.. I am one lucky wife!)

I have loads of pictures to share, but for now here is a little teaser:
That's Katie with her newest daughter, Lucy. Lucy was born at the beginning of April and is really just a doll. Not to mention, absolutely gorgeous. I'm telling ya, my friends make ridiculously beautiful babies.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary, Lisa! I miss you dearly, and can't wait for you to get back home. And no, it's not just because the dishes are piling up, I'm running out of clean clothes, and we're almost out of the meals you prepared for us before you left. It's pretty quiet around here without you.. hurry home!

Oh and by the way, thank you for the anniversary present. I'm sure every husband would love to have what you got me; a "get out of jail free" card, if you will. If I ever forget our anniversary I'll be able to say, "At least I'm here and not off on vacation without you." =P

I love you! And before you try and counter, I love you the mostest.

Mexican Wedding Dessert

So, it was Mexican night at small group and Hubby-kun and I searched the web for some dessert ideas. We found this from MexicanDessertRecipes.net.

Mexican Wedding Dessert

1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 stick butter
4 ounces cream cheese
2 small french vanilla pudding mix
1 1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup powdered sugar
3 cup cool whip

First Layer:
Melt butter and pour into a 9x13 pan. Mix in flour and 1cup nuts. Press in pan. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Second Layer:
Mix powdered sugar and cream cheese. Fold in 1 1/2 cup cool whip. Spread over first layer.

Third Layer:
Make 2 packages pudding mix according to directions on box. Pour over second layer.

Fourth Layer:
Top with cool whip. Sprinkle with nuts.

I have an early flight tomorrow so it is off to bed for now. I will be escaping from the heat wave out here to the spring like weather of NC. Updates and pictures to follow.

The One Where We All Wear Glasses

It is getting late and I am very, very tired. We are waiting for the bottom layer of our Mexican wedding cake to cool so we can finish the other 2 layers and put in the fridge before heading to bed.

I am a little behind on posting, but I hope this picture will tide you over for now. This is the Harland clan at Easter.

Spring Fever

Ahh.. don't you just love spring? I am usually quite fond of it. But, right now we are sorta in a love/hate relationship.

The weather is fantastic!

And just look at those colors!

Everything is just so beautiful right now.

But then my eyes start itching and I sneeze ten times in a row and I realize why autumn is and will always be my favorite season. I love you, Fall. Please hurry!

Just Passing Through

Pumpkin alerted us to the presence of these darling deer. There were probably 8-10 of them prancing through the in-laws' back yard. Of course as soon as P-Dawg started barking, they made a mad dash to the neighbor's.

I think these two have really grasped the whole deer caught in headlights look, don't you agree?

Life Is Ruff

It is a pretty safe bet that any time you see my camera bag on the table, I have been taking pictures of P-Dawg. It is completely Pumpkin's fault though. She is ridiculously cute and begs me to take her picture. And really, who can say no to her sad little puppy dog eyes?

Dirty Laundry

*alternate title: The One With Two Completely Unrelated Tales

Check that bad boy out. Yes, that is what a gallon of soy sauce looks like. We use a lot of it, especially for our secret family marinade.

The boys, P-Dawg, and I are going out of town this weekend. We decided to spend Easter weekend with their parents up in Northern California because they always make the 6 hour trek to see us. And we are also using them for their washing machine. Ours broke last week, and maintenance has not been by to fix it yet.

For the Love of Pizza!

Last night was pizza night at our small group. It is amazing how much discussion preferred pizza toppings can stir up. I mean, really.. people will put anything on their pizza these days.

Pineapple and oranges?

Seriously?!

I used to think I would never meet a pizza I wouldn't like, but apparently I hadn't met a lot of pizzas. I remember an unfortunate encounter I had a few years ago with a seafood pie.

For the love of pizza.. Back in my day, we only ate pepperoni, plain cheese, or the beloved school cafeteria mexican pizza.

Please vote in poll above. Thanks.
