A Californian Christmas..

This was our first Christmas in California and my mom and brother joined us. The Harlands spent Christmas weekend with us and we did a little sightseeing while they were here. I haven't had a lot of time to post since we have been on the go so much, but today was a lazy Sunday after church so I wanted to post a few pictures.

*You can tell that it was quite cold (and windy, which explains my crazy hair).

Another Very Special Day..

One of the best parts about getting older is learning to see your parents as less of.. well, parents and more of friends. I think that is especially true for mothers and daughters.

Today is my mother's birthday.

Unfortunately, I am not able to spend the day with her.

But fortunately, I will be seeing her tomorrow for an entire week.

So Happy Birthday to my mother and friend. Thank you for always being there. I love you!

Lord of the Lens - Round 2 Results

My apologies for the long wait on finding out who won, and who took each picture. It's been a very busy week at work (I even had to work today and just got home). This is actually the first time I've turned on my computer all week.

So, without further ado......

CONGRATULATIONS MOM! You won Round 2 of the Lord of the Lens competition!

Here is the photographer for each picture (I also updated the original post and put the photographer next to each photo):

Basic Training

So, it looks like it is back to the basics for Pumpkin. The past few days, I have (re)committed myself to training her. Crate training, specifically. She has really gotten quite horrible at going in the crate. So much so, that we have to pick her up and put her in there. It makes me feel so bad and I know that doesn't help with her not wanting to go in the crate by herself.

Getting Pumpkin crate trained is important because we live in an apartment and she canNOT be trusted left outside the crate when no one is here. There are too many temptations for her and she really can't help herself.

We usually have the crate in our bedroom, but this week I have been putting it out in the living room with me during the day. So far, so good. I try to put her in there for about 30 minutes a day with me in the room with her. The treats are really working this time. We will see how long it continues to work.

Any suggestions?

Lord of the Lens - Round 2

Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Harland family made an outing to The Huntington (you may remember Lisa and I visited there when we came out here to look for an apartment). While there, the second round of the Lord of the Lens competition took place. Our entrants this time are: Lisa, Derek, Kevin, and my mom. Per Susan's great suggestion, the pictures will remain anonymous until after voting ends. As before, you have 7 days to submit your votes.

Without further ado, here are the picture submissions:
